The Conveyor Belt Mentality

We may know that most factories are located in China, sure. Big deal. We have already discovered that most things are made in China anyway. But that doesn't mean that all factories are the same - just like all car factories are not the same either. Mercedes Benz probably have a better factory than Skoda. Are their factories the same? Are their production costs the same? No.

The ultra cheap manufacturers will knock up their clients a hairpiece for $45 - sometimes as low as $35 in extreme cases. These are the places that your ultra cheap net retailer is using, for the obvious reasons of keeping costs as low as possible but keeping a profit margin to be proud of. So, anywhere in the $200 range of hairpiece is almost certainly being made at a cheap factory.

No problem there of course. So long as you get a good piece.

In our extensive tests, we naturally wanted to find a factory that was as cheap as possible, but which could demonstrate a consistent output. Forget it.

It became known as the 'Conveyor Belt Mentality'. Too many workers, working at different times, too many machines, too many reasons for things to simply go wrong. Not enough care, not enough attention to the details that customers complain about. It's 5 o clock? "I'm outta here; whoever's in tomorrow can sort out this mistake - if they even notice." These are just high output places that often get it right, but often get it wrong. Hey, everyone gets it wrong. But often?

And if the customer doesn't like it? Who cares?

What did you expect for $45?

  2. Will you be offering "i-lace"/"lace sandwich" bases with swiss or french lace perimeters? When I voted "other" that is the type of base I prefer.
    Thanks :)

  3. i've been on the receiving end of this far too many times. One month a usable system, the next....garbage can worthy. You definitely get what you pay for at this level.

  4. Hey all... I am currently going through the same thing as well. It would be nice to have good quality at a decent price. It's hard for me to order multiple hair pieces from a company when it is always different. If Easypiece will be able to get me the same type of hair when I need it I'll be a customer for life... guaranteed.

  5. For some time now, I've been curious about researching the big hair factories. I've considered doing my own research in Qingdao but time, $$$, and the language barrier has kept me in the states hoping someone with more resources might someday expose these factories for what they are: as you say...glorified "hair conveyor belts". This industry has suffered from a lack of consistency and quality control for as long as it's been existence. Kudos for your efforts. You're research is helping all of us that wear hair. We are all just looking for the best hair at the fairest price. I look forward to hearing more...

  6. I love this program. I've gone to the big boys and many online places since 1994 and have had a wide range of experiences. I'm looking forward to the the launch and seeing how everything works out. Will you offer disposable bases?

Your method of signing up is confusing. It needs to be user friendly. It left me with doubt about doing business with you. Also you did not provide the information you promised. C Van Nagel
